Benefit from proper nutrition

We work so hard on our appearance, using all the right lotions and treatments. Surely if we looked this great we should feel better?

It’s also what you put in.

A large part of how we look is the result of what we put into our bodies. How can we maintain the appearance of youth?

Nutrition plays an extremely large role in how we feel and how we appear. The usual instructions of don’t eat this and have plenty of that certainly play their part but let’s dig a little deeper, how do they play their part and how much credence is there to your granny’s avice on the benefits of certain vegetables.

Our food is broken up into micronutrients which are the vitamins and minerals essential for health and growth and macronutrients which covers carbohydrates, fats and proteins.

Macronutrients are readily available and visible in the form of processed food and in meat while micronutrients are what we find in our fruit and vegetables.

Micronutrients are the mainstay of our health and we should provide our bodies with them as often as we can. Aside from vitamins C, A, D, E and K and the B-complex vitamins micronutrients also include various minerals all with a particular benefit to your body.

Manganese – Helps your body metabolise the macronutrients and promotes bone production.
Magnesium – Helps your heart maintain it’s normal rhythm, assists in the metabolisation of Vitamin C and Calcium and is integral in assisting your body in converting blood sugar into energy.
Iron – Healthy red blood cells and lymphocytes are produced here
Iodine – Helps your body metabolise fats and helps your thyroid gland grow and function
Chloride – Helps regulate water and electrolytes within your cells add also helps to maintain the appropriate Ph balance.

These are just some of the essential micronutrients and the important role they play.

How do I make sure I get all of these nutrients?

Often people want to lose weight and decide to cut something out of their diet. They are doing themselves a disservice if it is something that may be supplying their bodies with essential micronutrients.

It is important to eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, of all colours. Leafy green vegetables are touted as having the best nutritional value.
Where possible try not to cook or overcook your vegetables as this destroys the nutrients.

Should your body be lacking in micronutrients you will be more susceptible to illness and your energy levels will be low. Looking good on the outside does indeed have a lot to thank feeling good on the inside for.

Proper diet will leave you with
Glowing skin
Clear eyes
A trimmer body
A good mental state
Loads of energy
