Top Tips for Combatting Acne
Acne is commonly associated with our teenage years when it seems that no amount of healthy living can stand against those raging hormones that make skincare difficult. Of course, acne is not just suffered by the young, for many people it persists throughout their lives, it can however, be effectively controlled through the right acne treatments and skincare.
Clean Your Face Regularly with a Mild Cleanser
Clogged pores are a major cause of skin disorders, with acne being one of the most prevalent of them. To avoid blocked pores, be sure to clean your skin regularly. Of course, the ultimate goal is not to rid your skin of every drop of its natural oils, this will leave it dry, red and painful. Be sure then to use a gentle face-wash that is easy on your skin.
Moisturise with the Right Products
Use quality moisturisers on your skin in conjunction with a gentle face wash to replenish its stores of moisture. Keeping your skin properly hydrated is a large part in the fight against acne. This is particularly the case if you are using an acne medication or products that work by robbing your skin of moisture.
Go Easy on the Makeup
Your skin needs to breathe, so while it is tempting to layer makeup over your blemishes and scars to keep them hidden, you are actually making things worse for yourself by doing so. If there is no need to wear makeup, rather go without. If you have to, however, use it sparingly.
Don’t use Oily Hair Products
The hair products that you use (such as wax and gel) will have a direct impact on your skin, often leading to oiler outer layers, particularly on your face and neck where acne is often concentrated. Consider not using hair products, or finding ones that don’t result in oily skin.
